David E. Meador, 47, is
executive vice president and
chief financial officer of DTE
Energy (NYSE: DTE), a
diversified energy company
involved in the development and
management of energy-related
businesses and services
nationwide. Meador is
responsible for investor
relations, treasury, business
taxes and financial forecasting
and accounting for DTE Energy
and for coordinating financing
and financial matters for all
DTE Energy companies.
Additionally, he oversees the
supply chain management and
facilities functions.
Meador joined DTE Energy in 1997
as vice president and
controller. In May 2001, the
board of directors elected
Meador to his current position.
In addition to controller,
Meador served as senior vice
president and treasurer. His
professional experience also
includes serving as a senior
auditor for Coopers & Lybrand’s
Detroit office, as well as many
years of experience driving
continuous improvement and waste
reduction efforts in the
automotive industry. Meador was
also controller of Chrysler
Corp.’s MOPAR auto parts
division.
Meador earned a bachelor’s
degree in accounting and a
master of business
administration degree from Wayne
State University. He is a
Certified Public Accountant.
Meador is a member of the MACPA
and AICPA.
Active in leadership
development, Meador was DTE
Energy’s representative as a
founding member of the Society
of Organizational Learning based
in Cambridge, Mass.
lead by Peter Senge. He serves
on the boards of The Detroit
Institute of Arts and the
Investment Committee of the
Community Foundation for
Southeastern Michigan.
